WHAT IS MCS?

MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) is a UK recognised standard that sets out how renewable technologies should be designed and installed.

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is the certification scheme that verifies the quality and standards of microgeneration technologies and renewable energy systems.

This covers technologies such as Ground and Air Source Heatpumps, Solar PV and Battery Storage.

The MCS certification is essential for both products and installers involved in the installation of various small-scale renewable energy systems.

Having MCS Certification along with TrustMark registration allows installers to offer funded installs to homeowners and landlords.

WHY WOULD I NEED MCS CERTIFICATION?

Gaining MCS certification has many benefits. These include:

A large part of meeting the standard for MCS is having a system in place to collate the right documentation for each installation. This demonstrates that you are following the standard as well as having a ‘paper trail’ for post assessments when required.

Green Hub houses all of these documents in one place, with version history and dashboards to report your progress. Green Hub is compliant with MCS and helps installation companies capture the relevant information they need to meet the MCS standard ready for assessment with their Certification Body.

Want to manage MCS and PAS in one place? Green Hub does that too!

HOW GREEN HUB WORKS FOR MCS

1

When creating your account, there will be a set-up phase where you can enter all of your people, tools and company information and store this. This data then provides the foundations of your competency as a company to ensure you meet the MCS standard. This will only need to be updated when there are new team members or a change in company-related documents.

2

You will then need to read through all of the procedures to ensure you understand, follow and accept these. As part of your package we provide 2 hours of training as standard for all packages to make sure you are fully confident with the system.

3

For each new job, you will create a new installation record with an area to document all necessary information, including retrofit design, method statement, materials used, and feedback. Installation companies across the UK are already benefiting from our QMS. The system is able to pre-populate fields to save time and effort where possible.
